Biography

Zac Frackelton was born in Cambridge in 1978 and grew up in Hampshire and Dorset. A passionate sportsman as a child, a life in photography became a realisation in his late teens, following a series of evening classes and mentoring by a family friend.

In 1998, Zac began a two year ND course at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design which consolidated his knowledge of the techniques and disciplines of photography. A degree course at the London College of Printing and work experience at CETA, a professional photographic lab in Soho, London led to a chance meeting with renowned fashion photographer, Zanna (Sonia Rykiel, Cacharel, Marks & Spencer, Liberty and Aveda) with whom a full time assistant position at the Ragged School ensued.

Following this, Zac honed his skills by assisting some of the world's finest image makers: Alisdair McLellan, Clarence K, Corrine Day, Jillian Edelstein, Kevin Westenberg, Mike Figgis, Tim Bret Day as well as Bryan Adams and Michael Roberts - two working relationships that continue to this day. During this time, Zac also spent 6 months full-time assisting David Sims.

Many opportunities were presented along the way including shoots with an array of high profile subjects (Kate Moss, Elle MacPherson, Victoria Beckham, Erin O'Connor, Manolo Blahnik, Mickey Rourke, Morrissey, Coldplay, Radiohead), clients (Dior Homme, Jil Sander, Lacoste, Jaeger, Daslu, Range Rover, Maserati, HSBC) and for a range of top tier publications (British, French, German and Russian Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Mixte, Sunday Times Style, Tatler, V, Vanity Fair and W).

In addition to high fashion editorial shoots, Zac has been fortunate enough to have worked with Michael Kenna - undoubtedly one of the foremost landscape photographers today. Under his guidance, Zac developed a very thorough understanding of light and composition which has had a lasting effect on his photography.

In 2008, Zac turned his full attention to his own work and has since received independent commissions for main fashion shoots for the Saturday Times Magazine, as well as numerous fashion spreads published weekly in Times 2.
